FAQ: Online Measurement for Cast Film and Calcium Carbonate Production Lines
This Cast Film line and Calcium Carbonate measurement FAQ explains how online measurement systems help control thickness, improve quality, and optimize production in real time.
What measurements does SCANTECH offer for CAST film?
Thickness measurement is the most asked for by cast film producers but SCANTECH can also measure the % filler content.
Is it possible to measure the amount of filler like Calcium Carbonate (CaCo3) in my cast film?
Yes, SCANTECH has a unique measurement capability for this precise measurement of the % filler in a film. Typical fillers such as CaCo3, TiO2 and BaSO4 can be measured, which is essential for monitoring and regulating their percentage content.
I manufacture a co-extruded cast barrier film, am I able to measure this?
Measuring the total thickness of the cast barrier film is straightforward. However, it is also possible to measure the individual barrier layers such as PA (polyamide/Nylon). Please consult with your SCANTECH representative as to the type of barrier materials you are producing to see what can be measured.
Is it possible to measure stone paper?
Yes, and indeed SCANTECH’s solution has the added benefit of being able to measure the % of calcium carbonate (typically 70% to 80%).
