FAQ for Biax Film Production Lines
FAQ: Online Measurement for Biax Film Production Lines
This Biax Film line measurement FAQ explains how online measurement systems help control thickness, improve quality, and optimize production in real time.
What is the widest biax film that can be measured?
The widest scanner SCANTECH has supplied for BIAX is 12.5m on a BOPP line.
Does SCANTECH recommend measuring the CAST section as well as the FILM section in a biax film process?
SCANTECH strongly recommends that 2 scanners are used on biax lines (BOPP, BOPET, BOPE, BOPA, etc). The reason is that the two scanners provide for:
1) Complete and reliable mapping of the profile to the die.
2) Faster, tighter and more stable control.
3) Powerful insight into the stability and performance of the overall process.
I am worried about the film edge profile on my BOPET as I get a lot of film breaks. Can the measurement system help?
The X-ray technology boasts extremely high spatial resolution (measurement footprint). Coupled with the speed of the sensor, this enables a high-fidelity edge measurement. This is especially important for films such as BOPET, where monitoring the edge region is critical as the tenter clips require a thick section of film/sheet to clamp, and the shape of this is critical to avoid clip outs (film breaks).
What type of biax films does SCANTECH have experience in measuring?
SCANTECH has system installed on hundreds of biax process lines measuring a whole range of film types and grades, including:
BOPP
BOPA
BOPE
BOPET
BOPETG
BOPI
BOPVC
BOPS
